Long Ruts on Straights

Nothing reminds me of motocross more than a rutted up, fast, flowing track.  This is the pinnacle obstacle that separates the men from the boys.  If you watched Southwick this past weekend, then you saw the insane ruts in the moist New England sand.  Most beginners find themselves nervous approaching long ruts and often end [...]

Things We Love!

We’re loving this new Summer 2012 arrival, the Unrest Tank Top, that comes in both black (as seen above) and grey (coming soon). The hand drawn artwork was done by our Mulisha Maidens artist Bre, and features our logo on the front written out in moto chains, surrounded by pink roses. The backside [...]

Ski Jumps

The best thing about riding a motocross track is the elevation change.  This gives you more dimensions to the track and allows you to “spice up” some obstacles.  One of these obstacles is the ski jumps.  Most of the time, you find these jumps right before a downhill and there is no real lip or [...]

He will sit out round 14 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series this Saturday, April 14, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. to allow his hand additional time to recover. Before rejoining the series, Stewart will have the injury re-evaluated by his doctor.

This and that – April update

What a crazy Spring! We had a very mild winter here in Iowa, with very little snow and unseasonably warm temps throughout the season. Now in April, though, things have cooled off and I suppose with temps in the 50′s and frequent rain we are back to what’s normal for this time of year. This [...]

MX Adventures: Leaving the West Coast ... talking with Kevin Windham

{jvideo id=259 height=378 width=660 autoPlay=0}

Who dat?

This week I caught up with Kevin Windham. In the video below, Kevin Windham talks about the Superbowl Champions, the NFL's New Orleans Saints, his family, his future plans for racing and beyond.

The Superbowl XLIV champions, the New Orleans Saints, have many fans - among them is none other than the number 14 in Supercross, Kevin Windham. While the NFL season started when Supercross was in its off season, Kevin was able to take part in season tickets to his favorite NFL team - da' Saints. Eventually the 2010 Supercross season got underway in January, which meant Kevin was flying off after those Saturday night Main Events back East to watch the New Orleans Saints Playoff games.

On February 7, 2010 the New Orleans Saints headed to the Superbowl in Miami, Florida and Kevin Windham and his wife Dottie made arrangements to attend this momentous occasion. First, however Kevin had to finish up a Supercross race in San Diego the night before.

Traversing Flat Corners

One of the great things about a worn down track is the help from ruts and berms.  Sure they can make things difficult, but they essentially help us keep our speed up in the corners.  Just like in NASCAR, the angled surface allows the bike to lean over and still find plenty of traction.  However, [...]

2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series - Houston Preview

The Toronto round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Series marked a turning point for the season. Not only are we now in the home stretch of all three championships (Supercross, Lites West regional, and Lites East regional), but both Ryan Villopoto and Justin Barcia edged closer to securing their second indoor titles in as many years.

While Canada was not very kind to Villopoto last year, this time around was a bit different as the Monster Energy Kawasaki star rode off to a seemingly easy win. While Justin Brayton took the holeshot, RV1 was not far behind off the start. Villopoto stalked the Honda Muscle Milk rider for a few laps before finally pouncing to take over the lead. At one point, Villopoto did stumble in the whoops and nearly went down, allowing Brayton to come back into striking distance. However, the multi-time national MX / SX champion regained his composure and went on to win the main event by a sizable margin.

RJ Says: Phoenix Supercross 2012 thoughts, Los Angeles Supercross preview

First off, I want to congratulate KTM, Roger De Coster, and Ryan Dungey for KTM's first Supercross Class main event win. It's huge. I know of all the work they have done in the past few years in developing winning machines, teams, and more. Look at what they did with Stefan Everts and Pit Beirer in developing the 350 SX model - two world championships so far with Antonio Cairoli.

KTM in America has been working on the new 450 that Ryan races. It's a new effort, on a new bike. For Ryan Dungey, his win last Saturday in Phoenix goes a long way in many areas, but I feel the most important is that it adds confidence to the team and Ryan.

2nd Annual DC Moto TF Ride Day and Invitational Poker Tournament

Supercross 2011 is right around the corner! So much is going on, both publicly, but also behind the scenes. One public and noteworthy item - DC Shoes has a new three year contract with Monster Energy Supercross!

Adam Cianciarulo

I was invited to the 2nd Annual DC Moto TF Ride Day and Invitational Poker Tournament at Pala Raceway. It was a full day's 'work' for the DC Athletes; group photos, action shots, interviews, and lots of MX riding at Pala. And there was good game of Poker to raise money for Road 2 Recovery. The list of Athletes sponsored by the DC Shoes brand is a very impressive group making this Supercross assignment unique fun for me!
